Judging the finest rums Australia has to offer might sound like serious business – and it is, of course – but that does not make it a joyless process. Our ten-strong judging panel for the first ever Australian Rum Awards is made up of experts from all aspects of the industry, who all share a genuine passion for all things rum. So, naturally, getting together and spending three days tasting, evaluating and rating 100+ varieties of our favourite spirit, was something of a highlight for all involved. After all, there’s nothing quite like appreciating high-quality rum in high-quality company.
